The Wondrous Grace of Christmas

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us…” (John 1:14)
A virgin birth is a medical miracle by itself. But the birth of Jesus is more than a stunning miracle, it is the wondrous grace of God! This is the supremacy of Jesus’ birth and is also the reason Christmas is celebrated from generation to generation. Jesus Christ is not born of the world. He descends from heaven. His birth is a paradoxical event. It is the manifestation of the transcendent wisdom of God. Let us meditate on some of the beautiful paradoxes of His birth.
1. Purity of the birth of Jesus to an unwed mother! (Mat 1:19)
2. He was welcomed by shepherds at his birth whereas we have a birth welcomed by angels! (Luke 15:7)
3. He was given an earthly mother so that we may have a heavenly Father! (Romans 8:15)
4. Majestic God condescended to a child of human, so that we as children of lowly human may become children of God! (John 1:12)
5. He was born in a manger so that we may dwell in the heavenly mansion! (John 14:3)
6. He took off His heavenly glory to clothe us with His divine glory! (Romans 8:30)
7. He left His heavenly riches to give us all riches in Him! (Col 2:10)
8. We offer to Him our sacrifices on the earthly altar and yet He became our sacrifices on the heavenly altar! (Ephesians 5:2)
9. He is born to die so that we may die to live an eternal life! (John 3:16)
10. His proclaimed His own tragedy as the good news of great joy to us! (Luke 2:10)
Look, how amazing is God’s grace for us! My dear friends, have you received this precious gift of salvation? It is given to us freely at a heavy price fully paid by Jesus Christ. All you need to do is to believe in Him because God’s love is great!
