WUHAN CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK PREVENTION NOTICE （2 FEBRUARY 2020）
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14)
The church is closely monitoring the situations in China and Singapore, as well as the instructions issued by our government. Our brothers and sisters are assisting pastoral team in following up on the movements and health conditions of our members. The Lord’s mercy and love be with us. Till today, nobody among us is infected.
In this unusual time, let us lift up our holy hands without anger or quarreling, pray for Wuhan, China and Singapore. Do not panic, but be a responsible citizen, take heed of the instructions of our government and play our individual part in preventing the outbreak from spreading in our communities. The church appeals to all members to the following:
1. Strictly observe the instructions of the government departments. With effect from today, Singapore airport has forbidden passengers from China to transit or enter Singapore except for citizens, PR or residents with long term pass. Those returned from Wuhan are mandated to be quarantined for 14 days. Those returns from other provinces are mandated to take leaves of absent for 14 days. They are to remain at home and not go out.
2. Give honest answers to your employer’s concern;
3. Stay home when you have a fever except going to the clinic.
4. Avoid going to public places that are crowded, such as tourist spots.
Our church will conform to the government’s measures with regards to the control of the outbreak. Our Sunday Service and regular meetings on weekdays will continue as usual until there a curfew order is issued from the government. Meanwhile, all persons-in-charge of fellowship groups will take extra effort to obtain updates on members’ travelling and health conditions and give gentle reminders on the necessary actions. When necessary, we will change our meeting venue. Also, we will not shake hands when we meet.
I urge you, brothers and sisters, to be careful with our tongues. Share information only when you are sure it is true. Do not make careless or sweeping statements, such as “the church is not safe because there are many people from China” or “it is not safe to take public transport” thus creating unnecessary panic and conflicts. The Lord is not pleased with such irresponsible words.
Let us be compassionate to the sick, not rejecting, because the Lord Jesus said, “with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.” Mk 4:24
Be careful “that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.” (1cor 12:25) May the Lord examine us and prove that we are truly His disciples.
